The challenge
Install a wireless security system for a 400,000 square-foot showroom complex, and get the necessary transmission range with a single control panel.
The solution
Install one GE Security Pro 5000/UltraGard control panel, Learn Mode Long-Life door/window sensors, glassbreak detectors, and Quik Bridge Repeaters.
Consisting of 160 showrooms where 6,000 manufacturers display their products for wholesale buyers, Gift Mart is single-story facility so every door and window has to be monitored, from one end of the facility to the other, including roof access. The main entrance to the building is at the center of a hub from which two long malls of showrooms extend, covering a total of 400,000 square feet. An initial $22,000 estimate for the upgrade included the cost of rewiring sensors for individual point identification.
Jon Barnett of EdinAlarm proposed a GE Security Pro 5000 control panel, 20-year wireless Long-Life Door/Window sensors, wireless dual-technology long-range glassbreak detectors, and four repeaters. The wireless system saved, for starters, a little over $16,000 and provides more security for the money.
Wireless keychain touchpad operation will give system users arming and disarming with no delay and panic protection. The GE Security Pro 5000 system will be installed by two technicians in two days. The cost: about $6,000.
